The Canadian Mental Health Association - Champlain East is a community-based agency dedicated to providing community support services to persons living with a mental illness and concurrent disorders.  Our Branch has been designated under the French Language Services Act since 1991 and as such, is committed to providing services in both official languages (French and English).

Program Director

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:        Responsible for the management, supervision and clinical direction of all Branch mental health and addiction programs and services.

ACCOUNTABILITY:                          Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requirements

  • Masters degree in one of the related Social/Health Sciences combined with three years direct supervisory service experience in mental health/addictions service, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity with Recovery Philosophy and awareness of needs of diverse communities is an asset
  • Well organized and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated leadership with successful communication plans and strategies
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle

Language

  • Advanced language skills in French and English, a requirement as per the Branch’s French Language Designation Plan

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to organize time and prioritize tasks to achieve objectives, demonstrating organization, planning & coordination skills
  • Advanced working knowledge of mental health and addictions issues
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in virtual platforms such as MS Teams
  • Demonstrates initiative when appropriate and is willing to learn new skills
  • Demonstrated ability to observe boundaries, engage in appropriate emotional regulation, refrain from dual relationship with clients / volunteers
  • Engage in reasonable self-care strategies that incorporate balancing work/life responsibilities
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision making skills

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION: 

Program        

  • Provide clinical direction to all Branch programs in accordance with Best Practices in Mental Health and Addiction
  • Develop new programming in line with Ministry directions
  • Review and maintain program procedure manual to reflect best practices
  • Responsible for facilitating the work of specific program committees, as established by the Branch
  • Act as the clinical contact person with other agencies in the community
  • Participate in client case conferences, when required
  • Ensure adequate client records are maintained including the audit of files on a regular basis in the Client Database
  • Quality Improvement & Accreditation lead representative within the Branch

Supervision of Direct Reports

  • Supervise Program Managers and provide coaching to members of the leadership team where required
  • As a resource, facilitate change management for increased organizational effectiveness
  • In conjunction with Human Resources, make recommendations to the Executive Director relative to matters of hiring
  • Participate in disciplinary procedures as required

For the Branch

  • Responsible for ongoing education plan for Program Workers and Volunteers
  • Coordinate and administer Branch surveys to solicit client satisfaction and make recommendations to the Executive Director. (OPOC, CFCAC, FLS)
  • Facilitate and promote positive relations among the staff teams of the Branch
  • Promote and encourage positive inter-agency relations with our community partners
